Opening up a new chapter closing the older one...

Just spent so much time blog-hopping across most of my friends' blogs. Several no longer existed, many had new looks, many more posted pictures of their beloved friends and teachers taken during farewell. Some felt like strangers to me, while others were stuck in time. By stuck in time I meant either

1) The person looked and talked and typed exactly the same way as I remember them.

or

2) The latest post talks about being in a literature class and being bored by the teacher.
In secondary three.

Oh well, at least I haven't found any stuck in Primary school. Yet.

And today, a few days after farewell assembly, the reality of it finally hit me.
Quite slow, I know.

For some reason, even during farewell assembly, my subconscious kept having this impression that, somehow, SOMEHOW, we were all going to return to school the very next week and go on with our college life, as if nothing has changed.

There's me, doing my usual super speed brisk-walking as part of my daily routine, slipping in line in front of my class at the usual reserved-for-the-nearly-late-Yuan-Ting spot, with barely 30 seconds to spare before the familiar shrill ring of the 7.30a.m. bell echoes around the parade square. Then there's the our dear Dongfang billy (You guys know who but no names in case some highly respected noses poke around here), with the occasional letter of complaint or article to share with us. Then there's the class, sleepy-eyed and not very enthusiastically chugging across the parade square to our first lecture or tutorial. People debating over whether to pon lessons, laughing at the little silly habits of our teachers, looking for eye-candies and complaining about school. Laughing at/with Yee Yan, disturbing Kendrik, gossiping with Drew and Kenneth, all the teasing of each other and everyone else. Crapping with Kit Ying and gang. Passing mad jokes (neh mind!!!) around the class.

SL, with all the late-night cutting of styrofoam and being awed by our indonesian friends. PW, with all the madness and tough times, with all the running around and panicking over our presentations, last-minute mass chiong-ing of the entire class and files of EoM or PI flyng around msn.

Track, with all the sprinting and gyming and us lying around on the PE dept floor like piles of jellies. Drills that had us nearly crawling and repeats that set our butts on fire. Falling down on my butt while doing backward drills on the field and getting butt-ache. Having my rubber band slip off onto the track in the middle of a sprint and squealing the rest of the way with my hair bunched up with my hands, and having a bewildered soccer/hockey/something guy pick it up for me, looking mildly frightened by my noise. Me and Xue Lin taking our own sweet time to shower and going back up long after everyone has left. Being frightened by the little boy squatting in the far dark corner of the track store. Track dinner. Heat-rub fetish. Deodorant brands. Our cute old man in need of a new wardrobe. Riding on the train at 8pm 3 times a week, hungry, tired and sleepy.

I'm going to miss all these.

For now, let us all work hard for our A levels, lest God (not Yee Keong!) decides to take away our nostalgia by granting us all the memories again next year. You know what I mean. =)
